Whiteley Corporation was awarded “The Hunter Manufacturer of the Year Award greater than 50 employees 2020” at the recent Hunter Manufacturing Awards (HMA). Whiteley has been the recipient of many manufacturing awards over the years, however this is the first time they have won the major award.

The judges commented that for a company of its size “Whiteley is impressive with regards to its approach to innovation, with all R&D occurring domestically, as well as stakeholder/customer collaboration. Whiteley also has a strong international reach with its products and customer base. As a local company it has demonstrated that it has responded rapidly to the challenges associated with COVID-19 and in a way that has assisted the local community i.e. being able to manufacture locally to supply the health care sector when competitors who did not manufacture locally had issues with the supply chain”.

Dr Greg Whiteley accepted the award on behalf of Whiteley Corporation and congratulated the entire Whiteley team, and Downer Australia, the major sponsor of the award. He went on to say “Ina very unusual year, our team has risen to the enormous and unexpected challenges from the COVID-19 Pandemic. This is a truly company wide award for the team at Whiteley. Well done one and all.”

The 2020 Hunter Manufacturing Awards were held on 23rd October in Newcastle, with a theme of “Celebrating Resilience”.
